A good Ukrainian friend has a 1986 Kallista which he had registered and been driving freely in Crimea until he just went to reregister it under what is now Russian rule. The attached plate contains the cars VIN number but the "authorities" are giving him grief (for obvious reasons he being Ukrainian but now under Russian control) and are not accepting this is adequare VIN identification and are demanding he show it to them on a location on the car (windscreen/door recess etc) and despite searching the car forensically he has been unable to locate a VIN number in any of the "normal" locations. So can anyone help with a location or is the metal plate the only source of the VIN? the car (windscreen/door recess etc) and despite searching the car forensically he has been unable to locate a VIN number in any of the "normal" locations. So can you help with a location or is the metal plate the only source of the VIN?
